ADSR-Challenge 12 - The End!

Challenge 12 - the last challenge of the race - was to scrap a page about a major accomplishment. It was a roadblock challenge where 1 team member had to supply the pictures and the journaling, and the other team member had to scrap the layout. So Sarah sent me some pictures from Kathryn's birth and some journaling and this is what I came up with:

The journaling reads: "Becoming a mother is definitely one of the biggest accomplishments in my life. I am so grateful that Heavenly Father has blessed me with the ability to have children of my own. It is such an amazing feeling to know that I helped create these sweet little spirits that have come into our home. I feel so blessed to take part in this amazing miracle. It is truly a dream come true. I cannot think of any accomplishment greater than that of being a wife and mother."

Sarah's a great mother! Her kids are going to love all the fabulous scrapbooks they have with wonderful journaling about their lives.

ADSR-Challenge 11

Challenge 11 was very simple - you just had to use wings in it somehow. I was short on time this week with lots of other stuff going on, so I just used this layout that I actually did in the photoshop class that I taught recently at church (which, yes, is just a variation of the one that I previously posted with this same kit and pictures :-)

ADSR-Challenge 10

Challenge 10 was a road block where only one team member had to complete the challenge (the one who didn't do the last road block). I was supposed to scrap about where my life is headed and how I feel about it, using at least 50 elements (!!) and at least 10 different designers. I always find it challenging to use so many elements because I generally try to have a more simplistic look. This was the best I could do to not have the whole page just look too chaotic and overloaded.

The journaling reads: Right now, I am in the stage of my life where I am sowing seeds. I am continually striving to sow seeds of love and comfort in my children, sow the seeds of the gospel in their lives, sow seeds of love in my marriage, sow seeds of care in myself and my own testimony. Todd and I have spent years sowing seeds of education and training, and finally feel like we are getting closer and closer to the harvesting of great rewards for those efforts. Where am I headed? I am headed to a splendid harvest - To a time when I will be able to watch my kids spread their wings and take off on their own, filled with the love and knowledge that I have instilled in them. I will continue to sow and reap, tend and cultivate, love and enjoy the sweet fields of opportunity that have been given over to my care. The rewards are already wonderful, and I can’t even comprehend the joy I will feel when I reap the full rewards of turning my life over to the Lord and sowing in the paths he has set before me.

ADSR-Challenge 9

For challenge 9 we had to scrap an altered art page. These are generally kind of collage stye and are very different based upon the person's artistic expressions. Much to be left open to interpretation. A lot of altered art seems to include lots of vintage type elements, but I'm not really into those. I just couldn't come up with something that had that stuff in it, so I decided to just go with my own interpretation (art is such a subjective term!) and here's what I ended up with. It was actually quite a lot of fun. I had taken some pictures of Lawson doing crazy things while laying on the couch the other day, and thought, "what in the world would I ever do with that picture!" Aha! Stick him to a rocket and there ya go! Here's a small glimpse into the world of my kids...

ADSR-Challenge 8

This challenge required making a layout about a really memorable vacation (either for being fabulous or for being horrible). You could only use black & white pictures, only 1 word for a title, had to include some song lyrics somewhere and couldn't use any travel elements. I had a hard time with it because of the b&w pics. Who wants to remember their vacation in b&w? Not me. To date, the most memorable trip would have been our trip to Portugal & Madeira to visit the places Todd lived on his mission. But I definitely wasn't about to scrap the paradise of Madeira in b&w!! So I decided to go with this trip to a Vermont cabin with my sister's family, purely because of how horrible the car ride there was for everyone involved. Yikes! None of us adults will ever forget it.

ADSR-challenge 7

Challenge #7 was pretty hard. Each team member had separate requirements for what had to be on their layout and it was number based (i.e., a certain number of different types of elements). My layout could only include things from one single designer. I chose ksharonk designs. I had to have 1 paper, 2 ribbons, 3 buttons, 4 sequins, 5 frames, 6 pictures, 7 alphas, 8 stars/flowers, 9 staples, and 10 random elements of my choice. Whew! That's a whole stinkin' lot of embellishment. It was also supposed to scrap it kind of messy and have no journaling besides the title.

ADSR-Challenge 5

I procrastinated this challenge until the very last minute because I thought it was totally lame. We were supposed to interview an inanimate object and have at least 4 questions & answers. Finally, tonight I decided that I would do it about Rhino, so that it is at least not a total waste of scrapping. I'm probably going to turn it into a 2-pages with more of the pictures that we have with Alia and Rhino. Sheesh - he's pretty much a member of the family and has made it into a lot of family pictures! I don't think there has ever been a better-loved stuffed animal on the planet. I need to give him a little plastic surgery with some more stuffing and tightening up all the areas that are stretched out, etc. We want him to last forever!!

Oh, and I didn't have to do a layout for challenge 6. Only one team member had to do it and Sarah created a cute layout HERE.

Love This Kit!

I'm teaching a PSE class for an enrichment group this week (I'm stressing!) and I'm going to be using Shabby Princess' new kit "the Promise Collection" to walk people through creating a layout. I was playing around with it a little bit tonight and had fun making this layout. It's such a fun kit. This is probably one of the fastest layouts I've ever done! Now I have to figure out which actual creation we will use in the class, but this was a fun distraction.

everything is from Shabby Princess' the Promise Collection

ADSR-Challenge 4

For challenge #4 we were supposed to "spill it" about an event, situation, a day, etc. We had to use one large picture, some type of blending, and have at least 1/4 of the page be journaling. I decided to get a page for my cheesehead diary done so I scrapped about one of Lawson's "incidents" from last year. I could definitely do a whole stinkin' series about these incidents and I for sure am planning on at least doing one or two more layouts to talk about this oh-so-exciting stage that Lawson went through (including the chocolate mountain). I have to say that when I read through my blog post from last year where I posted these pictures and talked about everything he had been doing, it made me SOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY that we are through that stage! Wow. I enjoy spending time with my sweet little Lawson so much more now that I'm not constantly on disaster patrol.
